Lead vocal: Martha Bloom04:11

Release date: 25 September 2026

Music and lyrics: Luca Vignolo
Sound by The Sunday Static

Sea, oh sea is an acoustic-led folk ballad built around strummed and slide guitar, kick drum, bass, handclaps, tambourine and accordion. Martha Bloom’s lead vocal opens into layered female harmonies as the sea becomes both a road toward possibility and a place to leave behind what can no longer be carried. The official video moves between a cold present-day shoreline and vivid summer memories of friends, music and a beach bonfire.

Lyrics

"Where are you bound?" said I to the sea,
With salt on my boots and cold in my sleeve.
A freighter drifted west where the grey met the grey,
Till I couldn’t tell what had left and what had stayed.

I said, "You look like a road I could take,
A map left open, still half awake."
The tide climbed slowly up the shore,
And touched my footprints till they blurred once more.

And the foam kept turning while the tide drained away
I heard my own voice in the grey of the bay

Sea, oh sea
Beyond the line
You keep the roads
I leave behind
Sea, oh sea
You know this ache
I come to lose
What I can’t take

"What lies beyond?" I said into the wind,
As evening gathered at the edge of the fields.
A loose page lifted from somewhere down the beach,
And went on dancing just beyond my reach.

And the foam kept turning while the tide drained away
I heard my own voice in the grey of the bay

Sea, oh sea
Beyond the line
You keep the roads
I leave behind
Sea, oh sea
You know this ache
I come to lose
What I can’t take

"What should I keep?" I traced in the sand.
It slipped through my fingers and back to the strand.
The last light faded from the waterline,
And the distant lamps came slowly into sight.

Sea, oh sea
Beyond the line
You keep the roads
I leave behind
Sea, oh sea
You know this ache
I come to lose
What I can’t take
